Part of the assignment included using an original reference photo and a hand-built 30x40 canvas — Giselle and I had a blast doing a small shoot in a photo studio we had rented out, playing with lighting, props, and funky clothes. Within this piece, I explored my love for bright colors and contrast, and also experimented with my mark-making and gesture to see how brushstrokes can be relayed into emotion.
